What happens when we "Respect the Paw"?
At GTMS, our PBIS program, "Respect the Paw," emphasizes the core values of respecting oneself, others, the school, and the community. This initiative encourages positive behavior through a structured system of rewards and recognition.
Students are acknowledged for demonstrating respect through both individual and team incentives. When an entire team goes 5, 10, 15 days, and so on without a referral related to disrespectful behavior, they are rewarded with fun team-wide incentives like fidgets, pretzels, outside activities, or other rewards.
Five times a year, students have the opportunity to participate in schoolwide incentive days. These special days feature exciting activities such as Flag Football, Basketball, and Choice Day, where students can select from a variety of indoor and outdoor events. The other two school-wide events are for swag bags, where student names are drawn. These occasions allow students to mingle and build connections with peers from other teams, fostering a sense of community within the school.
Additionally, individual positive behaviors are recognized through specific programs like Pawsitive Character, the Grizzly Cafe, and Respect the Bus, ensuring that all aspects of student behavior are celebrated and reinforced. Our PBIS "Respect the Paw" program is designed to make positive behavior rewarding, keeping the school culture strong and vibrant.
